If this is your first time dealing with the NDIS at all, Junction Village families tell me the system itself is half the battle before behaviour support even starts. I try to make that part simple.

NDIS Behaviour Support in Junction Village
A fair number of the people I talk to haven’t dealt with the NDIS before and aren’t sure what they’re even eligible for, let alone what a Behaviour Support Practitioner actually does. That’s a completely normal place to start from. I’d rather spend the free call explaining plan types, funding categories and what’s realistic, than assume you already know the acronyms.
What Behaviour Support Looks Like in Junction Village
Once we’re underway, the actual behaviour support work looks like it does for anyone: an assessment to understand what’s going on, a plan that’s usable rather than theoretical, and ongoing contact rather than a one-off document. But I try not to skip the explaining-the-system part, because a lot of families I’ve spoken with have been quietly confused for months before reaching out, and that confusion is fixable in one conversation.
For a family in Junction Village, this might mean:
- Understanding behaviour patterns across home, school, day programs, respite, or supported accommodation in City of Casey
- Supporting families where behaviour is affecting sleep, sibling relationships, community access, or personal care
- Developing proactive strategies before behaviour escalates, rather than only reacting during a crisis
- Coaching carers and support workers to notice early warning signs and respond consistently
- Preparing behaviour support documentation aligned with the participant’s NDIS goals
If you’re not sure whether you even qualify yet, that’s still worth a call. I can usually tell you fairly quickly.
Getting Started
Here’s what the process actually looks like, since it’s rarely explained clearly upfront. You start with a free 20-minute call, no referral required, just a chance to talk through what’s going on. From there, if we’re a good fit, we sign a service agreement and get the initial assessment booked, at home, at school with consent, or over telehealth.
Expect four to six weeks for a full Behaviour Support Plan once that’s underway. If the situation’s urgent, particularly if restrictive practices are already being used, I’ll aim for an Interim BSP within two weeks instead. I try to keep the wait as short as possible for Junction Village families, same as anywhere else I work.

School and Community Collaboration in Junction Village
Behaviour rarely happens in only one setting. We can work with families, schools, day programs, and support workers so everyone understands the plan and uses it the same way.
Telehealth and In-Home Support
Telehealth works well for parent coaching, support worker consultation, plan reviews, and NDIS guidance. Where observation is needed, we discuss the most appropriate setting with the family: home, school, or video-based observation.
