Understanding NDIS funding management can be confusing when you are trying to access specialist services like behaviour support. This guide explains the three funding management types and what they mean for you.
The Three Types of NDIS Funding Management
Self-Managed
You manage your NDIS funds directly. You can hire any provider — registered or unregistered — and pay invoices yourself via the NDIS myplace portal. Self-managed participants have the most flexibility.
Plan-Managed
A registered Plan Manager handles your invoices and payments. You can still use both registered and unregistered providers. Brave Mental Health works with plan-managed participants.
Agency-Managed (NDIA-Managed)
The NDIA manages your funds directly. You can only use NDIS-registered providers. Please contact us directly to confirm our current registration status for agency-managed participants.
Should I Consider Changing My Funding Management?
Changing from agency-managed to plan-managed or self-managed can increase your flexibility. This is worth discussing with your Support Coordinator at your next plan review.
